What has 4 legs and neigh?

Going back home soon....

Do you know how to read and interpret this? Well neither do I. But I had fun trying to make sense of it on 21st May, last Friday.

Horse booklet

Our company's Social Com organize a buffet cum Horse Racing night or was it, Horse Racing Night cum buffet. Sorry to say, the buffet caught my eye first. Horse Racing? Was never interested. I had one in my hometown too and the traffic surrounding it is always bad during race day.

We had an entire room to ourselves but it doesn't present us with a nice view of the race track though. Our room is on the side. Buffet is so so nia, our training buffet taste much much better. Anyway thou shalt not complain when thou got free admittance.
The race track.. or some of it.
Manager R gave us a crash course on how to bet, it's kinda easy. The hard part is what to bet. Obviously most of us are amateurs though there might be some who pretend to be amateurs...
Anyway, people like us just bet on instinct. Sad to say I only got instinct to lose. Cis... After 2 loosing bets I decide to consult Manager M who for some reason, is really good at picking horses. There are some tips on the table to tell you which horses are the best bet and the booklet comes with very detailed stats on the horse, who is the dad and mum, how many races, how many wins, got take sabbatical boh, got bleed boh, injured boh, how much it cost when it was a baby etc... That is enough to tell you horse racing is serious business.

Place a bet..
There are a couple of ways to bet, you can bet which horse is winning or you can bet which horse end up in the first 3 positions. Sad to say, favorite horses always have low returns as too many people bet on them. Senior J actually teamed up with Junior K and pooled some money for betting. I thought they won overall but apparently they just managed to break even. I bet on 6 races, win some, loose some in the end lost SGD5.00. Not too bad lar for a first timer.

The turf is next to the Kranji station so for us red line people, it's easy to go home. So after the 6th match we all hopped onto the MRT and bid the horses adieu.
